Hola.
Exciting news from the land out east...I harvested about a pound of spinach from my garden today! It was so exciting. I also picked one cucumber and a green pepper (well, i touched it and accidently broke it off - its a lil' guy). And theres a baby eggplant on its way. After not checking on it for three weeks I thought for sure I was done with this whole gardening thing, but nope, the tarp for the weeds and the community watering schedule is keeping it alive :)
Hope the summer is treating everyone well..
How are all your gardens doing? Trace...?

Nice job Jess! Well... I thought my garden was doing well until I saw Gram's! It looked like something out of "Little Shop of Horrors"... I couldn't believe how big her plants were! Though I have an excellent lettuce crop, with more than I could possibly eat, and a good amount of peas, beans, cucumbers, a few squash, and my tomatoes are finally starting to turn red :)
Hey, my garden is good looking, too. Unfortunately, nothing has been real tasty. The lettuce is good. James and Sahara like the hot peppers, but I have to rub my mouth with aloe it I touch one. The peas were prolific, tough, and mealy. My cucumbers, though picked very small, were dry and hollow. The squash and pumpkins have beautiful flowers, but bear no fruit. Oh yeah, the beans are doing but I don't even eat beans unless forced to!
Trace - I might do all spinach next year, it took off, and it is so tasty. I wasn't a fan of the green pepper I picked - too bitter. Yeah - grams garden is insane, especially considering she has to bring jugs of water down to it - well done gram :)
Aunt Nance- not a fan of hot peppers either. I should have some banana peppers coming, but I've never tasted those, hopefully sweet? I'm excited to see Molly's giant pumpkin start growing. I think it was always a dream of mine to grow a giant pumpkin...she's a lucky girl.
I can't wait to see you all in a few weeks. I'll be up for the ENTIRETY of fair week - get excited. Apparantly Lady Antebellum has been sold out for quite some time - would have been awesome to go. Does anyone have tickets?
I'm headed to Walden Pond (Thoreaus' stopping grounds)on my back for a day of relaxing in the sun. love summer
