Sonja's trip had to be postponed due to a bout with pneumonia, but she appears to be on the mend and is scheduled to fly into JFK on the evening of the 25th.  Keep your fingers crossed that she makes this flight!

Paul completed a double major in biochemistry and molecular biology in 3 years - VERY impressive achievement.  Congratulations, and enjoy broadening your horizons as a world traveler.

Sad news

For those who haven't heard, Bud was hit by a car over the weekend and suffered severe injuries. He was put to sleep on Sunday morning. Condolences to Mom and Molly.

Skip Tries Again

Skip made it through knee replacement surgery and is working hard to get mobile again.  Good Luck.  I am sure his physical therapist has a challenge ahead!

Lions club breakfast

Paul is selling tickets for the Walton lions club breakfast which has "an expanded menu". The breakfast is Sunday May 19th from 7am-1pm (his shift is from 9:30 on if you want him to serve you too!). It is at the Club Royale (across the street from the Sunoco station). Tickets are $7 each or a family group ticket (4 breakfasts) for $25. The family ticket is advanced sale only but you can get individual tickets at the door. Thanks!

My crocuses had their 2 days of bloom before the cold and rain, but the daffodils put on a show yesterday and the forsythia is popping so I planted lettuce yesterday.  Is there a chance that we will finally get a real Spring in May?

Thank you Gabrielle and Andrew for a wonderful wedding weekend.  All of your planning worked out beautifully.  Gabrielle certainly went above and beyond when she did the Polka with her new father-in-law.

Well Mom, you handled it for many years but for the next couple of nights Jane will have the six young-uns, ages 6, 4, 2, 2, 1, and 5 months?, staying here. We are taking bets as to whether she can handle it. I will be in my workshop but I've offered to take Dave and Drew for a few hours at a time.

Milking Machine

The Tired Iron Tractor Museum down the road is being auctioned off so we visited yesterday for a last look at an amazing collection showing the ingenuity of our forebears.  This 1898 milking machine is my favorite.  I can picture a woman escaping household tasks like cooking and laundry as she sneaks a book to the barn and reads while pushing the pedals to milk her two cows at the same time. Birthday month

We are having a good time despite the excessive rainy weather. We have enjoyed pleasant temperatures and lots of hiking with me being pushed in the wheel chair when my legs got tired. Last night we had a hard thunder shower which lasted all night with another one expected.tonight. Vicki took me shopping and I found a beautiful outfit for the wedding. Happy Birthday all you lucky February people. Paul, I will remember you on the 28th, the same day as your great grandfather. We will be home on Saturday, and I can not wait.

Sight seeing in the rain.

We are having a great time even though it is pouring down rain a lot of the time. We have been on some long hikes. Sometimes I get pushed in my wheelchair, but I walk as much as I can. I went up to the top of a 40 foot tower. The view was spectacular. We took in many consignment shops. I got a nice blouse. I will let Vicki surprise you with hers. I have my own room now with a big comfortable bed. Life is good. Today we went to a beautiful train museum. It was about the history of the railroads. Now we are relaxing before going for our daily swim in our heated pool. I will try to write more tomorrow.
